An SMS blast is a single text message sent to a large group of contacts at about the same time. In GoHighLevel, blasts are usually sent from a smart list using the Bulk SMS action, or by enrolling a list into a workflow that sends the text. Each recipient gets the message in their own conversation, so replies come back one-to-one.
Blasts from local numbers in the US have to run over a registered A2P 10DLC brand and campaign, and carriers limit throughput based on that registration.
In practice
The common native flow (as of October 2026):
- Open Contacts and select the smart list you want to text.
- Select the contacts, choose the bulk SMS action, write the message with merge tags, and pick send now or a schedule with batching.
- Track the job under Contacts, then Bulk Actions, where you can see its status and pause or cancel queued sends.
The follow-up is where it gets slow. A resend should go only to people who didn't answer, but GoHighLevel doesn't group the sent messages as a "blast" you can query later, and a reply could come by text, call, email or chat. Doing it by hand means opening conversations one at a time or building tags into every blast workflow ahead of time.
Where it shows up in RGS Tools
Blast Follow-Up is built around this. The blast finder groups texts sent close together into blasts, the no-reply checker drops anyone who replied on any channel, and the resend tagger tags everyone left. Preview and CSV export shows who will be tagged first, and automatic daily runs handle new blasts on a schedule.
