A bulk action runs one operation on many contacts at once. In GoHighLevel you select contacts on the Contacts page or in a smart list, then choose an action from the toolbar: add or remove tags, send SMS or email, add to a workflow, export, or delete. Imports are logged as bulk actions too.
Each bulk action runs as a background job, logged under Contacts, then Bulk Actions (as of October 2026). The log shows each job's status, who ran it and when, with stats on successes and errors and a downloadable error log.
In practice
Good habits for bulk actions:
- Build and double-check the smart list before selecting all. The action applies to whatever is selected.
- For bulk SMS and email, use scheduling and batching so you don't send thousands of messages in one burst.
- Check the Bulk Actions log afterward for errors, like invalid numbers or contacts missing an email.
Know what can be undone. Deleted contacts can generally be restored from the log for about 60 days. Sent messages and added tags cannot be restored, though queued bulk SMS can be paused, edited or cancelled before it goes out.
Native bulk actions cover contacts. Most setup work, like creating fields, editing dropdown options or adding users, has no bulk option and is done one item at a time.
Where it shows up in RGS Tools
Sub-Account Manager adds bulk operations for setup work: the bulk field creator, field mover, dropdown option manager and bulk user creator, each with a dry run before anything is written.
