What it does
The Field Mover takes fields out of one folder (or from the top level) and puts them in another, in bulk. You choose which fields to show, tick the ones to move, pick the destination folder, and press Move. Sub-Account Manager updates each field's folder and reports how many moved.
When you already have a list of names, from a spreadsheet or a client's request, Select from a list ticks them for you. Paste the names and it finds exact matches, suggests close ones for you to confirm, and tells you which names it couldn't find.
Why it matters
Field lists get messy. Fields created from forms land at the top level. A snapshot import drops forty fields into one folder. Someone creates "Bank Statement 4" in General instead of Documentation. Over time, reps scroll past fields they need and admins can't find anything.
GoHighLevel lets you change a field's folder, but one field at a time: open the field in the sub-account's Settings, under Custom Fields, change the folder, save, and find the next one. Cleaning up sixty fields becomes sixty edits. Organizing custom field folders explains how to plan a folder structure before you start moving things.
How it works
- Pick the sub-account and the object, then open Folders and the Move fields tab.
- In Show fields in, choose All fields, Top level (no folder), or a specific folder.
- In Move them into, choose the destination folder, or paste a folder ID.
- Tick fields one by one, or use Select all shown.
- Or click Select from a list, paste names (one per line), and review the matches. A summary shows how many were exact, close and not found. Untick any close match that's wrong.
- Press Move. The button shows the count, like "Move 14 fields".
- Read the results: each field with a done or failed mark, and the reason for any failure.
Good to know
- Only the folder changes. Data on contacts, merge tags and keys stay the same, so workflows and templates keep working.
- Folder names. HighLevel doesn't share folder names through its API, so Sub-Account Manager labels each folder by the fields inside it. Empty folders don't appear; paste their ID to move fields into one.
- Already there. Fields already in the destination are skipped. If nothing needs moving, you'll be told before anything runs.
- Not-found names are names that aren't in the current view. Switch "Show fields in" to All fields and try again.
- After moving, put the destination in order with the Folder Alphabetizer.
- Fuzzy matching is forgiving. Differences in case, punctuation, "&" versus "and", and words like LLC, Inc or Corp are ignored when matching pasted names.
- Partial results are reported. If HighLevel rejects one field's move, the others still go through and the failure shows its reason.
Questions
Does moving a field change its data or merge tag?
No. Only the folder changes. The field's key, merge tag and the values stored on contacts stay as they are.
How does Select from a list match names?
It compares each pasted name to the fields in the current view, ignoring case, punctuation and words like LLC or Inc. Exact matches are ticked, close matches are suggested for you to confirm, and anything else is listed as not found.
