What it does
Dark Mode adds a small moon button to the header of every sub-account, next to GoHighLevel's own theme button. Click it and the sub-account switches to dark; the button becomes a sun to switch back. The choice is remembered per sub-account in that browser, so each user decides for themselves, account by account.
As the agency, you can also make dark the starting point everywhere, and users can still change it.
Nothing about the account changes. Dark Mode only affects how GoHighLevel looks in that user's browser. Other users, your clients, and anything the sub-account sends out (emails, funnels, forms) are untouched.
Why it matters
Teams that live in GoHighLevel all day, working conversations and pipelines, often want a darker screen, especially on evening shifts. GoHighLevel's theme options are set at the agency level, as of October 2026, which means one choice for everyone, not a per-person, per-account preference. Dark mode for GoHighLevel sub-accounts covers what's available natively and its limits.
Per sub-account matters for agency staff. When you jump between a dozen client accounts, a different look in one of them is a quick visual cue for which account you're in.
The agency default is useful when your own team prefers dark across the board. Turn it on, and every sub-account starts dark for every user who hasn't chosen otherwise. Anyone who prefers light clicks the sun once, and that sub-account stays light for them.
How it works
- Install the Power-Ups loader line in Agency Settings › Company › Custom JS. Save, then refresh GoHighLevel.
- On the Power-Ups page, switch on Dark Mode and choose every sub-account or only some.
- Optionally turn on Start sub-accounts in dark to make dark the default.
- In any sub-account, click the moon in the header to go dark, or the sun to go light.
- Switch to another sub-account. It keeps its own setting.
Good to know
- Hidden on agency pages. The button only appears inside sub-accounts, not on agency-level screens.
- Per browser. The preference is saved in the browser, so it follows the user on that computer, not across devices.
- Images keep their colors. Photos, videos and embedded frames are left looking normal. The sidebar keeps its own styling.
- It darkens GoHighLevel's existing pages rather than replacing them with a new design, so every screen gets it without waiting for updates.
- Turning it off on the Power-Ups page removes the button from GoHighLevel within a minute, with nothing to uninstall.
- The Custom JS line is the same one that runs Contact Peek and the other Power-Ups.
- Limit it to some accounts if a client prefers their team not see the button. Pick only the sub-accounts that should have it.
- Users switching computers start with the agency default on the new machine, then set their own preference there.
Questions
Is the dark mode setting per user or per sub-account?
Both. Each user's choice is saved per sub-account in their browser, so someone can use dark in one client account and light in another.
Can I make dark the default for everyone?
Yes. Turn on Start sub-accounts in dark on the Power-Ups page. Each user can still switch back.
