What it does
CSV Export turns a sub-account's field list into a spreadsheet. One click downloads a file with a row per custom field or custom value and eight columns: Name, Merge Tag, Key, ID, Type, Object, Folder, and Options / Value. Dropdown, checkbox and radio fields list their options separated by pipes. Custom values carry their current value in that same column.
The export respects whatever filter you've set. Select the Opportunity chip and search "lender", and you get only the opportunity fields matching "lender".
Why it matters
Agencies need field lists outside GoHighLevel all the time. A developer building an integration wants every key and type. A client asks what data their CRM collects. You're documenting a snapshot before you sell it. You're planning a cleanup and want to sort fields by folder in a spreadsheet.
GoHighLevel's contact export gives you contact data, not field definitions. There isn't a native "export my field list" button, as of October 2026. The usual workaround is to copy names and keys out of Settings by hand, or pull them from the API with a script. Both are fine for ten fields and tedious for two hundred, and hand-copied keys pick up typos. What GoHighLevel's CSV export leaves out covers the wider gap.
The Options / Value column is the one people don't expect. Seeing every dropdown's options in a spreadsheet makes it easy to spot typos, inconsistent capitalization, and near-duplicate options that need cleaning up, which is hard to do field by field in Settings.
How it works
- Pick a sub-account in Field Finder.
- Optionally narrow the list: click a chip (Contact, Opportunity, a custom object, Custom values) and type a search.
- Click the download button in the toolbar.
- The file saves as
field-finder-<location ID>.csv. Open it in Excel or Google Sheets. - In Compare mode, the same button exports the comparison instead, with a status column showing what's missing where.
Good to know
- Built in your browser. The CSV is generated from the list already loaded on screen, so it's instant and nothing extra is stored.
- Folders. Contact and opportunity fields show a folder ID in the Folder column, because HighLevel doesn't share those folder names through its API. Custom object folders show names.
- Fresh data. If someone just added fields, press reload before exporting so the file matches the live account.
- Merge tags ready to use. The Merge Tag column is already formatted, so you can paste straight from the sheet into templates.
- Pair it with Sub-Account Manager. Exporting from a template account and pasting the names into the Bulk Field Creator is a quick way to rebuild a field set somewhere else. For keys one at a time, the Field Browser is faster.
- Opens cleanly in spreadsheets. Every cell is quoted, so names with commas and option lists stay in their own columns.
Questions
What columns are in the Field Finder CSV?
Name, Merge Tag, Key, ID, Type, Object, Folder, and Options / Value. Dropdown options are joined with a pipe, and custom values include their current value.
Does the export include everything or just what I'm looking at?
It follows your current view. Choose a filter chip or type a search first to export a subset, or clear both to export the whole sub-account.
