What it does
The Custom Values Viewer shows every custom value in a sub-account as its own group, right beside the custom fields. Each row has the value's name and its {{custom_values.…}} merge tag. Open one and you see the current value itself, plus its key and ID, each with a copy button. An empty value is clearly marked as empty.
Because custom values sit in the same list as fields, one search covers both. Searching "calendly" finds the custom value holding the booking link and any contact field with that word in its name.
Why it matters
Custom values are the sub-account-wide settings that snapshot templates lean on: company name, booking link, review link, support phone, a logo URL. In GoHighLevel they live in the sub-account's Settings, under Custom Values, on a separate screen from custom fields. To check what a value is actually set to, you open it.
That's where agencies get burned. A snapshot ships with {{custom_values.calendar_link}} in twenty emails, and nobody notices the value is still the placeholder from the template account. Or two values have nearly the same name and the workflow uses the wrong one. The only way to audit natively is to click through them one by one.
The viewer turns that audit into a scroll. You can see every name, every tag and every current value without opening anything, and you can spot blanks before a client's first campaign goes out. For a fuller comparison of the two concepts, read custom values vs custom fields.
How it works
- Pick the sub-account in Field Finder.
- Click the Custom values chip to show only values, or leave it on All to see values after the field groups.
- Scan the list. Each row shows the value's name and merge tag.
- Click a row to see the current value, the key and the value ID. Copy whichever you need.
- To audit for blanks, open each value or export the list with CSV Export; the CSV puts each custom value's current value in its own column.
Good to know
- Current values only. You see what each value is set to right now. There's no history of earlier values.
- Read-only. Edits happen in GoHighLevel. Use the reload button afterward to pull the new values.
- Compare across sub-accounts. Sub-account Compare includes custom values, so you can see which values exist in your template sub-account but are missing from a client's.
- Search reaches values. The search box matches the value text too, which helps when you know the URL or phone number but not the name it was saved under.
- Copy the value itself. The detail panel lets you copy the current value, not just the tag, which helps when you need the booking link or phone number elsewhere.
Questions
What's the difference between a custom value and a custom field?
A custom field stores data per contact or opportunity. A custom value is one value for the whole sub-account, like a booking link or business phone, used in templates through its merge tag.
Can I edit a custom value from Field Finder?
No. Field Finder is read-only. You change custom values in the sub-account's settings in GoHighLevel, then reload Field Finder to see the new value.
