Documents & Contracts is GoHighLevel's native tool for proposals, estimates, contracts and other documents that need a signature. You build a document in a drag-and-drop editor, add fillable fields (signature, initials, text, date, checkbox), assign each field to a signer, and send it by email or share a link. Documents can include product tables and collect payment, and each signature produces a certificate with the signer's IP address, email and timestamp.
In practice
It lives under Payments, then Documents & Contracts (as of October 2026). The dashboard sorts documents into Draft, Waiting for others, Completed, Payments and Archived, and documents with an expiry date move to Expired once it passes. You can save any document as a template, keep reusable blocks in the content library, and send templates automatically with a workflow action, for example when an opportunity reaches "Proposal Sent." Merge tags fill in the contact's details.
A few things to know:
- Editing a template doesn't change documents already sent.
- With multiple signers, you choose whether they sign in order or at the same time.
- Signed documents stay inside GoHighLevel tied to the contact. HighLevel's standard contact CSV export doesn't include the signed PDFs, so keeping your own copy, especially before closing a client's account, takes extra work.
Where it shows up in RGS Tools
Backup & Insights's file backup includes signed documents along with contact files, attachments, call recordings, form uploads and media, on a monthly schedule. Document analytics reports documents per contact and uploads per month, and zip downloads and share links let you hand the files to someone else.
